Getting the oppurtunity to really wine down after a very busy first month was very beneficial. Last week my squad and I were in Pretoria for a debrief for 5 days. As some of you know it was our squads last time being together for a couple of months so it was emotional for some people. We all had a great time hanging out by the pool, going to the mall, and even cooking meals for eachother. The last night a couple of my friends and I pulled an all nighter because we wanted to take advantage of our last few hours together for a while. Im currently now at Impact Africa in Johannesburg, with 14 of my other squad mates. We are working with 9 of their interns who are our age, doing community outreach in squatercamps and working with kids as well in their schools. Our base at Impact is so beauitful. It was formally a 5 star bed and breakfast! We were definitely spoiled with this location.
My first day of ministry was VERY eye opening and intense. We teamed up with a couple of people on our team, one of Impact’s interns, and one translator and went out into the squatercamps to go and evangelize to people. I was paired up with my team leader, Zach, one of the interns named Lauren, and our translator named Michael. Because of the people I was paired up with I felt the least qualified to be spreading the good news of Jesus. Our first home we went into I experienced a deliverence. For those of you who do not know what that is, its when someone is freed from evil spirits that they have inside of them. To say the least, it was very scary and intense. After this happened I talked to Zach and Lauren and they told me that this was the first time they had ever experienced something like this. And Zach has already done the World Race. I just thought it was so crazy that my first home in the first squatercamp that Ive ever been to that I experienced it right off the bat. God is real. And he works in ways that are unexplainable. It was a very exhausting day and a lot to take in, but im super excited for the journey ahead.
I ask all of you for prayers for wisdom and boldness for my squad as we continue this ministry. It will be mentally and physically draining but a lot of fruit and growth will come from this
