Hey y’all,
We are now in full swing out here in Thailand. We are hosting English camps in many different towns throughout Kanchanaburi. On the days we are not teaching English, we are hard at work on the farm. I am glad we are so busy now. It is very frustrating to not work because I came all this way desiring to be used. It can be hard for a person like me to sit still when I feel like there is work that needs to be done. Pii Pang (our host) is currently in the process of starting up many different ministries in the area and, as each one takes shape, we find more work waiting for us. But just as things start to really get going here, we received some interesting news. Due to a lack of ministry opportunities, visa problems, and a number of other issues within the squad, we will be spending the month of November in Cambodia rather than Thailand. While this is very exciting, it solidifies the fact that this trip is many different short-term missions rather than a long term one. I will be sad when I have to leave the farm and the family that is hosting us so graciously. It is so beautiful here. But I am just as eager to serve in Cambodia, as well as South Africa and Nicaragua.
Community living has been pretty tough. I am constantly with people and personalities that I am definitely not used to being around. Sometimes it is very hard to find anything that we can connect on. Throughout this, the Lord has been teaching me a lot about patience, understanding where someone is coming from, and understanding what I am and, more importantly, am not responsible for in the community. I am looking forward to our first debrief next week; a time where our whole squad gets back together for a few days to relax and reflect on the past month and a half.
It is crazy thinking that I will be back in the US in less than 7 months. I still miss you guys a lot. Feel free to shoot me a quick update on your life via facebook message. I love reading that stuff. Quick shout out to the boys and girls back in Arkansas. Woo Pig.
