Hey everyone,
I am officially done with college for the next year and a half. I had my last final on tuesday May 5th. I also got my cast off immediately after my last final. It was a great day to say the least. I got summer and my mobility all in less than 4 hours! I am also working on my summer job. I am in the interview process for a couple different internships.
I have all of these commitments that are all coming to an end around this time. My internship ended last month, school ended last week, the group of high school young men that I help lead are graduating this month, and we had our last official meeting last week. I can’t get over the fact that they are graduating! I have known many of them since they were in 6th grade. We had a graduation party as a small group on saturday, May 2nd. It was a very emotional party, but I am blown away by the kindness of the young men and their families! They are all incredible! Hearing some of the stories about those young men’s faith and hearing about them leading their young/older siblings and even their parents. One parent shared how she was wondering away from her faith, and one day she was in bed with all faith and hope lost. Her son came in and read her scripture and lead her back to faith. That story brought me to tears. Just being able to be a part of these young men’s life has been one of the biggest blessing for my life and my walk with Christ. Words can’t explain how proud of them I am and how much I love them.
Just an update from the World Race, I leave to go to team camp on July 16th! I will spend 10 days with my entire team getting to know each other and exploring the logistics of each country. We will be divided into our team which is 50 or so people, and then we will be broken up into groups of 7-8. Hopefully, I will spend all 11 months with that one specific group. Me and the rest of the men in my team will be doing several studies on what it means to be a man of Christ and what it means to lead. During this week and a half I will be camping out and testing all of my equipment. It will be a taste of what some months are going to be like. Me and my team will also be living off of the native foods from each of the countries that we will visit on our journey. I can’t wait to meet everybody and learn more about what we are doing in each country.
Well I think thats it for now…
Thanks for checking in,
Jack Baker
