When I signed up for the World Race my idea of what a mission trip is we have a very clear plan of what we are going to be doing and when we will be doing. We had a very clear and communicated schedule of where we will be, how long we will be there and what we will be doing. My first month has not been like that at all, and it has been challenging. We have great ministry hosts, Karl and Julie. They have been keeping us busy but about half of the mornings we wake up and are ready by 9:30 and we are not exactly sure what we are going to be doing that day. That in itself has been challenging but in a good way. I have had to let go of the need to know everything, and trust that God has a plan and that it is better than I could ever imagine.
I thought that I was going to be coming here to Serbia to help lead a youth sports camp. Which I got so excited about because I was finally going to be able to use soccer as a direct ministry, but right before we left me and my team found out that their will be no kids when we will be in Serbia, and all of the other physically labor we were going to do the ministry host Karl has already done. So all of our expectations for the first month were completely deleted. We came in with literally no idea of what we will be doing.
This Month has been a great month though! Karl and Julie have been keeping us busy and I have had a chance to play some soccer with some Serb kids. This month started off challenging and as time goes on it has become less and less challenging, I have been able to get used to not knowing what we are doing and being ok with it too.
The people of Serbia are great and next blog post I will talk about one particular Serb, ZiZa.
Thanks everyone,
Jack
