Greetings from Malaysia! On March 1, we left for our long treck from our debrief, a reunion between all the teams in my squad, in Thailand to Malaysia. We traveled by bus for 24 hours and arrived at Kuala Lumpur (KL) at our new home for 2 days. While in KL, we were debriefed on cultural norms and had a few meetings before my team and I took another 7 hour bus ride overnight to Kuala Terengganua (KT) for our next ministry assignment. Little did I know that my week in KT would be my favorite week of the race thus far.

We had a wonderful weekend and week in Terengganua! While in KT, my team did some moving for a local church in Kuala Terengganua, a smaller costal town in Malaysia. Apart from this assignment, we relaxed and visited with the local church before our two weeks of hard physical labor at an organic farm near Kuala Lampar. This past week we grew tremendously as a team as we had more free time to connect and saw the Lord meet our needs above and beyond what we imagined. Budget has been tighter this month so we’ve been praying as a team for God’s provision for our basic needs. God’s provision was remarkable this past week. We had several meals provided and received amazing discounts on some grocery items. He provides for His children! The Lord mainly worked through the church here to meet these needs without us expressing our needs; our brothers and sisters in KT welcomed us as royalty here. We literally spent hours upon hours with two families in town, the Isaacs and Charion family. Whenever I read Romans 12: 9-13, I think of my new family in Terengganua.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

These families truely lived out this passage. One of the my favorite aspects of the race is meeting family all over the world. The Isaacs and the Charions have set a new standard of hospitality for me. One day when I have my own home [wherever that is in the world], I would like to extend this same hospitality to whoever enters my home.

These past few days have been a tremendous blessing because I’ve had more time to revisit the past few months of ministry. Over this month, I would like to share with you a series of flashbacks from the past 5 months. I haven’t been the best at maintaining this blog so I realize that there are many holes in my World Race journey thus far. I ask for your patience with the series as internet is not readily accessible. At the end of this series, I would love to answer your questions in a blog. Post a question in the comment section of this blog or e-mail me a question.

Until later. The half-way mark of my World Race journey is approaching in a few days!
