Wow, month 1 in Guatemala has come to an end, and we will be in Honduras tomorrow. It’s hard to believe that month 1 is over. This month was 1 week shy of a month though, and I don’t think the other months will be like that. This last week we did some more digging for the new church, and then we went back to the school to help build some doors and finish painting of the name on the school. We listened to some really real and powerful talks from our squad leaders including things like spiritual gifts and spiritual warfare. On Friday, I played soccer with some of my squad mates against our ministry contacts and friends, the Lopez’s, and some of their friends. I hadn’t played soccer since like jr. high gym class, but it was really fun! They have a lot of fields in Guatemala where people play soccer. The weekend was pretty relaxing, I had to do a few errands, I got to go to this place that reminds me of KFC called Pollo Campero where they have free internet, and we went to the Lopez’s church again and it was filled with the Spirit and they washed our feet like how Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and we had communion. On Monday, we taught the kids at the school about the poor widow who gave all she had verses the rich people who gave a small portion of what they had and about how we’ve been freely given by Christ, so we should freely give. We said bye to the Lopez's, and we ended the month with a very hospitable meal made for us at the orphanage for our entire squad. The love was tangible. The kids were so joyful, and their home is so nice. The story of how the orphanage came to be is inspiring. I really like the people, culture, and language here. The Lopez's and the students were so loving to us. At one point I was thinking that I didn't know if I could handle any more love haha. I really loved Guatemala. I'm leaving Guatemala with a full heart. I think I’m in a good place though because I’m sad to go, but am ready and excited for Honduras. They said that we’ll be taking like a 13 hour bus ride to get there. It sounds like the living situation will be pretty similar to Guatemala in that we’ll be in a Christian compound with our entire squad in tents. It sounds like we’ll be doing a lot of different things though whereas in Guatemala we just had one ministry that we stayed with all month. I had a few different highlights and challenges in Guatemala, and I wanted to share my main highlight and my main challenge. But I will do that later. I also have some pictures, but the internet is not so good right now…so I will add more later, but just wanted to check in. Love everyone!!!!
