This weeks blog is about one of my squad leaders.
Her name is Jackie.
It’s her birthday today.
She is awesome.
Enough said.
But really, she’s incredible. I’ve never met someone so extremely passionate about Jesus. So extremely passionate about being honest. So extremely passionate about loving each moment. So extremely passionate about helping others find freedom. And so extremely hilarious.
Seriously, I’ve never been in Jackie’s presence and not laughed with her about something. (If you don’t believe me, go check out her, or my other squad leader, Aly’s, Instagram stories — they’re always full of hilarious videos of Jackie. I’m not kidding, on the few times I’ve called home, my mom always brings up something funny she’s seen on Instagram about my leaders.) You can frequently find her dancing around for no reason and hyping everyone up to watch her whip. Many times throughout the day you’ll hear her say “wait…guys!” and continue with some hilarious revelation that she just thought of. She’s so filled with joy, and always has a huge smile on her face. Her zeal for life is inspiring.
But her love of the Lord is even more inspiring. Jackie literally lights up when she’s talking about God. She’ll find out something new about the Bible and get so excited about it. The other day she was freaking out over how old Moses was when the Lord sent him to free the Israelites from Egypt. We’ll be reading our bible for devotions in the morning, and hear her say “Oh! wow!” because she finds the bible to be so amazing. It makes me want to know everything she knows about God. Her smile is contagious, and makes you want to have the same joy and freedom in the Lord that she has. I’m so incredibly blessed to have Jackie leading my squad these nine months, and can’t wait to learn even more from her.
