Wow its been a little over one year since i was accepted to the worldrace…
It’s been 8 months since I launched with the first all spanish country route. (Y squad)
Distant January seems when we arrived in Atlanta in 15 degree (f) winter then three days later headed to Puerto Rico with 80 degree (f) weather.
Month 8 Nicaragua is full of many events, Manistry, Parent Vision and a debrief.
Manistry is the where they put all the guys in the squad at one ministry location. We have 8 guys on my squad including our alumni squad leader Sam who is heading home after this month. (To be back with his family after staying with us 3 extra months)
This month were helping on the south west coast of Nicaragua with the Waves of Love ministry.
Waves of Love is a christian surfer ministry that outreaches to the locals and tourists in the area.

We’ve been helping with manual labor around the main property, removing / installing fence posts and clearing brush.
The hope is that next year they will be able to expand the property to host more short term missions teams.
One of the short team mission trips they are hosting is to build a house for a local family.
From what I understand Churches raise 2,500 USD and fly down to spend a week building a house for a local family.
The area around rivas is dry currently due to a drought, but the surf and beach draws a lot of tourists/surfers as it is a nice location.
We’ve been blessed to live in a house by the beach this month, with beds, bathrooms and showers that mostly work 🙂 (occasionally the power / water goes off)
Though we didn’t help in building a house we were able to get a glimpse into how any hobby or even vacation spent with a purpose can be used to show Gods Love to others.
It was also nice to run into a group of 3 surfer guys from Los Angeles on a week long missions trip as this is near my home town. (Thanks Ross, Steve, Jefferson for the memories)
