This past weekend I was blessed to help a friend, Mari Tomer (World Race Alumni) with a fundraiser to help build a new orphanage in Kenya. (http://www.luvway.org/)
Mari felt that God was calling her to Kenya earlier this year, she went twice for multiple weeks, and in the process God is opening up doors for her to start a new orphanage, unto the least of these.
The fundraising event was called the power of one, Where we broke up into teams and went throughout the city and asked people about the value of a dollar and if they thought a dollar could make a difference, and offered them an opportunity to donate a dollar toward the building of the first orphanage.
Mari had us take a list and explained that on the first orphanage she wants to put the names of the people that donated a dollar or more on the back wall. The neat thing is that she was more interested in keeping the names then the amount that we raised.
I met an awesome older lady named Edna who lost her parents in World War 2 Blitz of London and received Christ in an orphanage. She gave a dollar and we got to spend 30 minutes talking.
SO Why am I sharing this with you…
Because God is about the One,
Not about our methods, technology, possessions or our strength in reaching goals or numbers.
There is not some merit badge to strive for, not some trophy to attain If I just talk with
5 more people about Christ.
There has been and only ever was one…YOU…
He is about the process…
Of you coming to know the Lord
Of you growing in knowing the Lord
Of you experiencing His Love and grace
Of you sharing that Love and grace with another one
To the Lord every “one” is precious…Jesus came and died for you (Rom 5:6-8)
God used this past weekend to minister to me the simple fact that He is intently interested ministering to the one person, forgive me for looking at numbers and goals…change me to see as you do LORD
