Hello!
I have some exciting news!
For the month of July, I will be in Asheville, North Carolina! I will be working with a ministry called Excel.
“Excel is a community of Christ-followers living together in Asheville and committed to seeing the growth and development of the good, true, and beautiful people, families, and communities. Excel’s community facilitates a multitude of programs, tracks, communities, and businesses that have the end goal of fostering human flourishing.”
My time with Excel will be focused on helping serve the community of Asheville through community work projects, serving in the Black Mountain Home for Children cafe and thrift store, work projects for the elderly, and potentially food distribution for low-income families through Bounty and Soul. Black Mountain Home for Children is an institution that fosters infants through teenagers and prepares them for life while also working with the foster care system of Buncombe Country to provide resources and training.
I will be with both World Race and G42 alumni who have come to Asheville to live out the gospel in their everyday lives as Asheville is an eccentric community with an often jaded view of God/Christianity.
Obviously, this trip has not turned out the way that I initially anticipated, but I am beyond excited! Would I have loved to travel to Ghana and served abroad? Of course(!), but perhaps I am more needed in North Carolina. I think that sometimes we forget that you can serve in communities throughout the U.S. You don’t need to go to a third world country to have a radical Christ-filled experience. All you need is a pair of willing hands and a servant’s heart. I am so thankful to have this opportunity.
I will continue to update you as I receive information.
P.S. I have two days off per week. One for the sabbath and one for an adventure day! Adventure days will be filled with hiking, biking, waterfalls, tubing down the river, white water rafting, and visiting downtown Asheville!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or concerns.
