This was the moment I was waiting for….
The time for me to finally go to Africa. It was like my dream is becoming a reality. I could not hold the excitement and nervousness any longer. It was like get me on the plane already! When we first got there and I was getting my luggage. I noticed that at least 20 other people did not get theres. But I was one of the 11 people that got there’s and was able to go to the ministry site. I was nervous about arriving because I had no idea what to expect to see when I get there. But driving up there I kept looking around and seeing the land and people. So that second of driving I already said that this is my favorite country and I am already in love. We drove up to the town where our location is and the first thing I said in my mind is that I have never seen that many donkeys in my life. I was actually hoping they would start talking to me in a Eddie Murphy voice from shriek! But a guy can only dream though huh lol The markets are pretty big in the town so people always bring donkeys to haul their merchandise. As we got through the town I noticed we were seeing brick houses, kids running towards the door of the van and seeing a white man greeting us! A friend of mine said to me a couple hours ahead and said Isaac your home! It was almost saying that the Lord has a place for me in Hopethopia. I embraced every moment I have had here at hopethopia. From having every kid clinging on to me, from visiting the kids house and the house moms making me food, laughing and smiling with the local construction worker guys, with doing a African greeting which is shaking hands and rubbing shoulders, from building bricks and pouring concrete, from accidentally making a kid cry, to having no WiFi the entire month, enjoyed the staff and cooks, from stepping on a nail and traveling all over town to find the injection medicine, from rolling over my ankle to carry a cement bag, dressing up like a woman to gain laughs, from breakouts on worth, mental illness and sexuality; and to being one as a squad through Christ Jesus! God really has show me how to love unconditionally this month. I have read a couple of Bob Goff’s books which really inspired me to go further into loving people because that’s what Jesus did. But I didn’t just love on people I also felt being loved too! This month has truly inspired me to go further into making people feel known and love and that’s what I did! And that’s what really love does and everybody always loves!
