From Hopethopia to Hoperwanda!
Last month we were in Ethiopia In the main location and headquarters of Hopethopia. But this month my new team titan got the opportunity to be at the ministry in Rwanda called the sister location. Reason I call it the sister location because Ralph’s wife Glenda runs this location and it’s a woman’s ministry.
It’s based off a tailoring school for women who don’t have much education and have been abandoned by other people like family and men. It’s opportunity for them to go out and get jobs for themselves and also having a relationship with Jesus as well.
We have gotten the opportunity to have a one on one with each woman here. There is about 20 of them so it took us about two to talk to each of them. There were some who were very open to share and some that were very shy at first. Some of them ended up forgiving the people that hurt them in their past. I thought for being a man I wouldn’t thrive in a women’s ministry. But realizing how much these women loved on us men it should me that I can be able to help women in all situations.
Also while being here my team and I got to experience something that means so much to the country of Rwanda. Twenty-five years ago they experience a horrible time called the genocide. Lots of people lost their lives because of segregation of two types of people. But now Rwanda got to celebrate living in peace after 25 years. We got to experience liberation day at the stadium called peace. Lots of people waved their flags and sang their songs to celebrate peace. Also it was wonderful to experience the memorial and museum of the genocide.
Most of the time we spent serving the women in ministry but on a special day we got to see the men of hope Rwanda. Not that I didn’t enjoy being around but was really nice to be around just men. Because believe it or not I have been around 30 women for 9 months. We got to know their stories and spend time over a good meal with them.
It’s been a really special month for me and my team! It’s great to be intentional with people and building trust with others. Jesus I pray that the men and women find your strength in their weakness. I pray that the men and women find jobs right after graduation. Also to find Godly Men and Women to marry. Amen
