Day 24 Blog Challenge: information on Romanian Culture!
ROMANIA CULTURE!!!!!
First things first I want to personally apologize to all of you for not being able to communicate well with you all about the questions. I hope I don’t sound pushy when it comes that. I just like to remind everyone when it’s due and I am sure how to get information whether it’s from email or group messages. Thank you all for some of the feedback I received and encouragement!
Also I wanted to tell you something about the Serbian Culture I learned that was not ok to do. Because from my host this month I kind of showed some childlike behavior of some stuff I did in the town of Sombor. It probably would be more acceptable to do stuff like that in America but definitely not here. I also posted it on social media and was asked to delete it. So from my experience there I just want to remind everyone to be mindful of our hosts and the country’s culture on which can be known as disrespectful to them and their country. So for the next four countries let’s be mindful of the culture norms we were taught at training camp!
Ok awesome let’s get started with the fun stuff! Here’s a little some things that Romania is known for…. For a adventure day you should try to visit the Carpathian Mountains, see the sculptor of Constantin Brancusi, enjoy some ??, see the salt mines or medieval fortresses, you may see some DACIA kind of cars, Vampire Dracula, eat some cabbage leaves, see primeval dense forests, the Black Sea and some sunflower fields! Hope you all will get to see those things!

Are we supposed to tip in restaurants?
tipping in restaurants in Romania. When eating out in Romania the service charge is usually not included in the bill. Many waiters expect a tip because in Romania it is a norm to tip in restaurants. The waiters are not paid that well, therefore a tip of 5-10% for their service is valued.
Is it bad to drink alcohol in this country?
Drinking in Romania is completely different than drinking in America so let me back up and start there. … In fact, making your OWN alcohol aka “moonshine” is not only legal here but extremely common, both wine as well as hard liquor.

SUMMARY
Even decades after the fall of communism, Romania in eastern Europe is still working to overcome the physical, economic, and emotional damages brought about by 42 years of oppressive totalitarian rule. At the north end of the Balkan Peninsula, the Carpathian Mountains and 600 miles (965 km) of the Danube River offer scenic beauty as well as provide many resources for the nation’s economy. Rich in cultural traditions, including the folk arts of dance, music, wood-carving, weaving, and embroidery, Romania is also unique in its latin-based Romance language resulting from Roman occupation centuries ago.
Romania’s communist rule ended in 1989 with the overthrow and execution of Nicolae Ceausescu. A parliamentarian government was instituted, but much-needed economic reforms were slow to be implemented. Motivation to join the European Union (EU) accelerated many changes, and Romania was officially made part of the EU in 2007. With naval bases on its Black Sea shoreline, Romania is also a strategic asset to Europe. Corruption and economic problems persist and have left many frustrated. An estimated 25 percent of Romania’s almost 22 million people live below the poverty line.
Even though most Romanians claim to be Christian, little evidence is seen in their lifestyles. Romania has one of the highest abortion rates in the world, and difficulties from drug abuse, prostitution, and pornography reflect the emotional state of many. The largest church influence in Romania is Eastern Orthodox, which, though it survived communism, has since replaced the government in discriminating against other Christian churches. Despite this, Romania has the fourth-largest growing evangelical population in Europe. An increase in materialism, devotion to tradition, and lack of unity in denominations and churches has not stopped a growing receptivity to Jesus Christ in Romania.
