Hello family I know its past time for another update.
I’ve been enjoying this month working with Langeberg Christian Fellowship church and Charis Bible College. There’s an office building first then another large building with the church auditorium and classrooms. A larger two story L-shaped building for the college with a small preschool behind it. These buildings have all been built by our hosts here now.
“The Power’s out” has become a normal thing to hear the past 2 months.
Electricity cutting out can be frustrating. It would typically cut out sometime at night, but it also happened during dinner or early morning when you want to make breakfast. Thank the Lord for gas to cook as well. It’s made me think, what if Gods power cut out like that unexpectedly. He holds everything in the palm of his hand and if He withheld His power even a split second everthing would be all over in the blink of an eye. The same power that created it, holds it all together. We live in a massive universe on a ball that is somehow suspended that has fire at the center of it with land and water on the surface spinning 1000mph and We’re rotating at 67,000mph around a ball of fire (our sun) about 93 million miles away at just the right distance. If we were any closer we would burn up or if we we’re any further away we would freeze. Spinning and rotating and we don’t feel anything, even that is more then we can comprehend with our small minds. More stars than we can count in our night sky. Only 10% of ocean floor has ever been explored. All things we’re created through God speaking them into existence.
Except humans, God put in extra effort to make us in his image. He made us with the intention of relationship him him.
Genises 2:7 KJV
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Not to mention how the human body functions. Think about how we laugh and cry. Our five senses and all the emotions we feel and how they’re affected. How we realize (especially on the Worldrace)how we love good food.
Electricity is an amazing blessing in our life. It’s a luxury that provides power to all our appliances, giving us heat and comfort in this life. The thing with electricity is that for it to work there has to be a place of contact. For instance, you flip the switch and make the connection now you have light.
God is all knowing, our unlimited power, so much more powerful than electricity. Prayer is our connection with God He’s just waiting for us to make that connection. Prayer on the race has become a way of life that I hadn’t experienced before in life. We often hear about the power of prayer but don’t experience it until it becomes a way of life. What if God’s power would just cut out unexpectedly and we wouldn’t have the freedom to talk to him whenever we want. When you think of it that way it helps you remember how blessed we are that God loves us and his power doesn’t randomly stop working. Even in something as simple as talking with him through prayer.
It has been a really great month so far. We are living in a house all to ourselves again. In a small peaceful town named Heidelberg. Peace and quiet is amazing. We have amazing hosts again this month. The work with Langeburg Christian Fellowship church and Charis Bible College has been fullfilling.
We’ve been busy with multiple outreach programs. We spent our time here serving in the different ministries teamed up with members of the college and church. Thursday is the big outreach day. The morning starts with a time of worship in the college and one of the students shares a short message before taking communion together and starting outreach.
Everyone else meets at a local highschool to answer questions and tell highschoolers about Jesus for about 30 minutes between classes. Then we split up in seprate groups to another high school and street ministry. The group for the streets is divided into smaller groups to reach more people.
There’s also a group that goes to the hospital to pray for people. Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to join that group at all.
Mondays and which ever other days it worked out the preschools were another fun day of ministry. We would also split up to go to different schools. The cutest little kids that love to sing and dance. Their lessons are taught in english so we could help along with that. Mondays also included cleaning at the church and college after the weekend.
Tuesday afternoon ministry is spending some time playing games, worship, and a lesson with childern at a designated spot that the sunday school couple has set up recently.
On Wednesday our last week here my teammate Dave and I got to join the group of guys to the men’s prison ministry. One of the guys from college, put it this way “we have a captive audience” so if the lord gives anything to share, not to hesitate as the guys would soak it up.
Wednesday evening we joined what they call “cell” groups at the pastor’s and the deacon’s houses. An evening of fellowship with other brothers and sisters in the community. Pastor Bennie has the gift of prophecy and the night would end with a prophetic prayer time over whoever wanted.
On our second Sunday here my team leader Hannah and I also had the oppertunity to join the couple in charge of children’s sunday school. We played some games to warm up to each other. The childern love worship they have songs with actions and easy to sing along too. Hannah and I then shared a short lesson we had prepared on prayer. Then a quiet time to pray and sit in Gods presence. Ending the class with the childern included praying for whoever needed or wanted prayer. It just so happened without us knowing that our lesson on prayer was just confirmation to the childern as prayer had been their lesson for the past few weeks before we got here.
Thank you Holy Spirit for unity in the body right.
The sunday morning that we shared there was a young girl in the sunday school came to give a Hannah a greeting hug. Hannah told her that we would be teaching them about prayer and I was taken by surprise when she immediately asked (praying in tounges?) I thought to myself what does she know about that. At the end of the the day I think at least a few of the childern already had more knowledge about praying in tongues than either of us. Teach them while they’re young!
Prayer time together as part of our team time everyday and countinues to create and strenthen the unity for our team.
South Africa has this thing where often times when they gather for whatever reason they cook with a wood fire they call it a braai. We were blessed with all the meals provided through all our new friends from church and school. We had a few braais at the house we stayed and were also invited to some others.
Approximately two weeks yet then we get to celebrate the half way mark through our time on this Worldrace race journey. Sometimes I wonder where the time has gone other times it feels like its been a life time. We now know these 5 months is only the beginning of a short season in life and the introduction of a changed life forever with a whole new prespective of our world then before we started.
Remember us in thoughts and prayers. Also pray for those of us who aren’t fully funded yet. The last deadline was in January so time is now more urgent.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to this mission for me. Means more than you know and is much appreciated not only by me but I know God will honor it as you have served a part in preaching the gospel around the world.
Mark 16:15 KJV
And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Until next time God Bless.
