January 7th is the date that’s stuck in my mind. It is the date my bags must be packed and everything set in place for 11 months of absence from the USA. With Thanksgiving already in the past and Christmas just around the corner, time for preparation is swiftly running out. It is both unbelievably exciting and absolutely petrifying all at the same time. Some might think that it’s crazy or too much but, there is a profound peace that comes with not knowing what the future holds. The one certainty that I do have however, far outweighs the discomforts of the unknown. My certainty is that God is with me every minute of every day and I can be sure that everything that happens over the next year is totally by His design. Every step, every mile He will be there. He asks only one thing of me, to start the race. The Chinese philosopher Laozi said that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” but, that’s not exactly true. “The journey of a thousand miles” begins with the heart. Over the past few months God has shown me a lot about myself but, the one thing that he showed me is that my heart is not strong enough to run this race. At first this really scared me, it felt like he was tossing me to the lions and I had nothing to defened myself. It made me question why He was sending me on a race that He knew I couldn’t finish. Looking back now I can imagine God giving a little laugh at my confusion, only because it was so uncalled for. The fact is all I needed to do was trust in Him, and not just with some thing but, with everything. As soon as I let go of the control that I was trying to hold onto He showed me what I needed to see. It’s not through the strength of my heart that this race will be run, it’s through the strength of His heart.
There is a whole world of people whose hearts are not strong enough on their own to run the race. It’s our job to show them that there is someone who has a heart that is strong enough for everyone and He gave everything so we could be a part of it. That is why I’m going on the WorldRace, to tell as many people as possible about the God who loves them. I am about half way funded for this journey. If you feel like the Lord is leading you, please consider making a donation. All you have to do is click the support link at the top of this page and if you can’t give then I ask that you pray for me, God listens to our prayers and He will use them in a powerful way.
