After finishing month two, our whole squad reunited for some debrief time: to process the past two months and recover energy to move into month three. All 58 of us spent the week in Nelspruit, South Africa, with our leaders and coaches. For the most part, we just spent time to relax and catch up on blog posts.

This won’t be the blog post I was expecting to write.

I wanted to write about:

–The orphanage we lived at and our time with the kids
–Our prison ministry, which happened to be at a maximum-security prison
–Our safaris at Kruger Park, the largest game reserve in Africa
–Other things like our house visits, street ministry, and a guys fishing trip

At some point I’d love to write about those, but things became busy here and thoughts have changed. Long story short: some teams got switched around during debrief, and Team J159 was one of them. Our former team dissolved into three other teams, and I’m now a part of Team Fierce Pursuit.

My new team: Angela, Amy, Jochem, Ashli, me, and Liz

It’s hard for all of us on J159 to say goodbye and transition to our new teams, but the changes will bring along a new season of growth and direction for all of us. The past two months gave me six amazing brothers and sisters that I love so much and we all grew into a better people through adressing our strengths and weaknesses to improve intimacy with both God and each other.

Originally I thought I was spending another day here to recover, but my new team is leaving early. In a few minutes, we’re boarding a bus to Buhleni, Swaziland to spend November at a community center in a rural area. I’m not entirely sure what we’re doing yet, but I’ve overheard sports ministry, VBS, and helping at the school and medical clinic. Whatever we do, it should be awesome.

I already love all of my new teammates because my old team lived and served with them this month at MCV. I'll end this blog with a highlight video Angela made that summarizes our month well:
