We made our way from Asia to Latin America a couple of weeks ago and I am currently living on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa, Honduras! My team and I were placed at Loyalty School, which is a small bilingual school for local kids of all ages run by this sweet Honduran family. Were tucked away on the side of a mountain, lost in the clouds half the time, and I get to wake up to the most amazing view !
There are two teams based here with Pastor Roger. For the first month, half of us are teaching English to the kids and the other half of us (me) are doing manual labor and outreach. From my first day of ministry we were handed machetes and pickaxes, so outdoor work has been the majority of my November!
For outreach, Pastor Roger has taken us around town to talk to some families he ministers to and we got to pray for them, give them words and love from the lord. It was such an eye opening experience, hard for my heart but at the same time so encouraging and special. We live in a pretty rough part of Tegucigalpa and often these families don’t have much more than each other. Being able to help restore hope for some of the women we met was such a humbling thing and hopefully we will be able to venture out again before the month closes up. Starting in December my team will be teaching so we’re looking forward to that.
We have made some friends around town. Every Sunday we have church and the families here are so welcoming, whether they speak the same language as us or not. It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to experience community wherever you are so praise the lord for the love of his children and kingdom here on earth!
Thanksgiving- we decided to take a trip to the beach! Right now we are in Tela, which is on the Caribbean side of Honduras. We rented a big beach house for a few nights and had the chance to cook for each other. We definitely feasted, and were definitely thankful for a time to celebrate to Lords generosity and the family we have in each other. God is so good !!
As for fundraising, I have just over a month to reach my third goal and still am in need of financial support ! To learn more about where I am at financially please go check out my last blog. I trust the Lords provision but I also don’t want to leave the race, which is what could happen if I do not reach 15,000.
To everyone at home, it’s finally Christmas season officially and I hope yall are enjoying every little thing! God bless you all, I’m so grateful for my community and more updates will be coming soon !
Much love,
~ i
