well helloo!
If you don’t already know, my name is Iris Howell. Right now, I am finishing up my senior year of high school (no idea how I made it this far). Like most kids my age, I had some trouble deciding what to do with the next year of my life. When I discovered possibility of taking a break from school to live authentically and selflessly, I knew there was a reason the Lord wouldn’t let me forget about it.
Soooooo fast forward to today. It was a good day!!! As I was sitting in AP stat, I found out that I am officially actually really going on Route one of World Race Gap Year! What this means for me is that instead of packing my life into my car, trucking to college, and living in a dorm next year like the rest of my friends, I will be packing my life into a backpack (!!!) instead and doing mission work around the world with about 50 other people my age! woah. Over the course of 9 months, my team and I will be traveling along the equator and spending time in 3 separate continentints, and 5 countries: Cambodia, Thailand, Honduras, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. Our goal is to be the Lord’s hands and feet.
Yall I am beyond excited for this adventure God has called me on. It’s all happening so fast but logistics are a large part of what will keep us going on His path. In order to cover all expenses, I must raise almost $15,000 for this ministry opportunity, which will take care of my travel, housing, food, insurance, and other needs. This number may seem huge, but when the the Lord calls, I am confident that he also provides. I’m asking you guys if you would join me in this endeavor by praying with me and considering financial support. God does big things, and by contributing these ways, you can ensure that each dollar donated and prayer prayed will go straight across the nation towards those who are in more need than we could fathom in our secure lives here at home.
Wooww I know that’s a lot. But overseas mission work is something that has always intrigued me but I have never had the chance to experience. The possibility of living as a disciple really struck me and I am way fortunate to have this opportunity. And also maybe a little too excited. Anyways, if you read this far, you rock, and thank you.
