Just being here in India is such a gift. I’ve been trying to soak in every day that I’m here. I still find myself saying out loud the random things that I’m doing like, “I’m doing laundry by hand on a rooftop in India.” (I’m lovin the rooftops, and this one’s different too!) “I’m worshipping at a Nigerian church in India.” “I’m chopping veggies and drinking chai with some women at an AIDS hospice.. in India!”
So this month, we’ve been visiting different ministries around the city. So far, we’ve worked at an AIDS hospice, we’ve sung and painted nails at a center for women rescued from the sex trade, we’ve prayed over about 200 men at a homeless shelter, we’ve played with kids at a boys’ home, and we’ve tutored at an after school program and put on skits about different bible stories. At first, we were confused as to why we were doing all this bouncing around, but I’m realizing, as I type, just how much we’ve done and how this allows us to get a feel for what we like. We get the opportunity to realize our strengths and weaknesses and how to prepare for each scenario. If I’ve learned anything on this walk with Christ, I’ve learned that God is EXTREMELY strategic and intentional. I’m making it a point to be present in these small moments, because I know it’s in the small, unsuspecting moments that God makes his moves.
(Pictured above from left to right are the beautiful Ruth, Jaysharee, and Deeksheetha.)
An example of the small, unsuspecting, awesome moments: One of my teammates sat her phone down somewhere and was looking for it but couldn’t find it. We were all doing our own thing, but we decided it was necessary to stop and pray for someone who wasn’t present. After we prayed world race style (where we all pray at the same time), my teammate went to go outside to see if she could find her phone. When she opened the door, we were immediately greeted with the prettiest, complete double rainbow that any of us has ever seen. Right there was God’s promise. He sees us, He hears us, and all of His promises are YES and AMEN. I knew right then to be prepared to see Him move in HUGE ways. That rainbow only lasted for about five minutes and then it faded away. Everyone in the compound met up on the roof to witness it. It was amazing and the best foreshadowing of what’s to come. Stay tuuunnneeedd!!
So as I’m typing, it just started pouring raining. When we arrived, our host said they’ve been in a drought for five years. He said it rains, but it’s sparse. I prayed for rain after he said that. It’s rained just about every day we’ve been here. Just saayiiiinn.
Now for a little fundraising…
I am about 65% to my goal of $17,617 and need exactly $6,197 by November to continue on my journey and be fully funded. Please consider making a one time or monthly donation to help keep me here to serve and be used as a vessel, so that all can know the power and love of Jesus Christ. I thank you all for the consideration, support, and prayers.
