My route is called Unscripted. It is a bit different from other World Race routes and what we do honestly looks different from day to day. Here, I wanted to share a bit about the heartbeat of my trip in this post. My route has set countries and beyond that our team has a lot of freedom to go where we feel the Lord leading. The heart of the trip is to seek the Lord’s voice, be near Him, and go where He leads. Sometimes this is to a specific city or town and sometimes it is to go up to an individual and engage in conversation. Sometimes it is to spend time with my team and sometimes it is to get by myself and deeply seek the Lord for what He has for my team and that day or for that country. It is fluid. It is exciting! It is full of life. It is not always easy. It is not structured. Not at all. It is a joy. It is led by the Spirit. It is how I want to live my life for the rest of my time on earth. It can be challenging, yes. Knowing where to go and working together as a group. The Lord is always good though and has a beautiful way of weaving an amazing story together. At times, we press in further and at times we get up, go to lunch, and watch how God orchestrates a beautiful conversation when we had no set structure or plan. It is by having an attentive, willing, and soft heart to whatever He has each moment and open eyes, that I’ve seen God do really neat things.
I also want to share with you one of my favorite things I have learned from my trip. Sabbath. Why am I just discovering this? Sabbath is a day to draw near to the presence of the Lord and stay there. No plans. My number one goal on Sabbath days is to draw near to God and just be with Him. There is no structure or formula, just like there is no formula to experiencing God or pressing into Him. It is unique for every individual and it may be different every single time. Sometimes, I’ve walked the streets and met locals, sometimes it is going to a cafe and journaling for hours, sometimes it is grabbing a smoothie, sometimes it is taking a nap. But, my biggest goal is not to run errands, not to write blog posts, not to get my laundry done, it is to be with God. Because of Sabbath, I have been able to process through so much, seek His voice and let Him speak to me, and just sit in His love, grace, and presence. This is such a sweet treat that I hope to take with me for the rest of my life.
