This is the beginning of a wild ride ahead. Pumped in so many ways and yet content with where I’m at and the next six months for how the Lord will continue to use me and grow me in my time at home. While the World Race starts in January for me, my mission work started long ago and I fully intend to keep going 100 miles an hour with every breath, whether I am in South Africa or sitting at my desk in corporate (or at home, you know, the millennial work thing).
I want to begin by sharing why the World Race? I’m sure it’s different for many individuals, but the true heartbeat behind it all for me is the Gospel and relationships. There are many more reasons beyond this, such as the structure of community within missions, the activities of the trip and what we will be doing, and even the length of the trip. I hope to hold my plans loosely, but if the trip ends up only being about the Gospel and relationships, then I think I’ll come home a happy camper :). The three verses that tugged on my heart through out the last year and a half have been Romans 15:10, Isaiah 52:7, and Nahum 5:2.
How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
– Isaiah 52:7
Hard to explain, but there is such a deep stirring in my heart to make the Gospel the very centerpiece of my life. There is nothing more peaceful, powerful, and enriching than the Gospel and it’s message. The fact that God gave that which was most precious to Him in order to have a relationship with us, that message, when we focus on it, it changes everything. Our hearts, life, motives, purpose, direction, joy, emotions, responses, actions, and quite literally everything else in life. It gives us peace; something that perhaps the world is not searching for all the time, but I believe it desperately needs.
Thanks for following along in this journey of mine and for the prayers! I hope you find these brief words encouraging 🙂
