I came to realize in our group feedback session this week how powerful the voices around me really are. I have already experienced the power of words throughout this year on the World Race. But, something in my mind connected the dots as Alys spoke feedback over me.

Feedback has become a time of listening prayer, and yes, we are called to notice people around us in the common day. We are called to speak life in any setting, but the time World Racers called "Feedback" is a time to engage the Spirit in a more intimate way.

I will truly miss this time as I leave the Race.

It wasn't until Alys gave me feedback, when engaged my Spirit and spoke life and truth over me, that I in turn spoke.

Her words awoke my soul.

Ask people on my old teams and they will tell you; I usually hoarded my feedback for a while and mulled it over before I chose to speak. Sometimes it would be formed but I would chose to wait.

I finally realized what being hesitant does to the world.

The world misses out when you are silent or hesitate. Especially in a time that The Lord is asking you to speak.

I realized what the people around me were missing out on when I wasn't speaking.

Sometimes I chose to follow in Adam's footsteps and be passive, other times I chose to speak with hesitation. Not because I don't trust myself or trust that I hear from God.

It is a subtle sin, one that I am recently uncovering.

Men, step up! Speak up! Let the people around you feel your presence and feel the power of your words. However, take into careful account how you speak your words. Delivery is crucial, engage the Holy Spirit and let Him speak through you. The women around you need to hear your words, they must hear your words. Don't be selfish and don't be passive.

Most of all, don't hoard your feedback. It hinders the Spirit from moving.

Trust me, I am a recovering hoarder.
