Have you ever stopped to wonder how many miles Jesus walked while he was here on the earth? Have you ever sat and wondered how his feet must have hurt, or how dirty his feet were? I know that is not something I think of much.

Being on the race for three months has began to show me the purpose of our travels, the reasons that we have come, the reasons we walk just as Jesus did. The purpose is easy; to share the good news, the same good news that Jesus and the disciples shared as they walked countless miles.

I’m slowly learning that the journey is not about the destination but the people along the way. This month I have met people that have blessed my life and comforted me in my brokenness, laughed with me in my joy, prayed with me and just sat down and talked with me. I now understand the meaning behind the beauty of traveling for the purpose of sharing the good news!!!

One of the members of the church we have worked at this month in Peru is a shoemaker and he made sandals for us as a symbol of the journey we are on, the journey of sharing the good news to people all over the world.

When the pastor presented the sandals to us at church on our last night he dedicated this verse to us.
Romans 10: 14-15
How, then, can they
call
on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in
the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without
someone preaching to them?

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet
 of those who bring good
 news!”
