So, it’s been a while since I’ve updated. Due to my extroverted tendencies I’ve found myself slacking in various areas of life. Just recently have I decided to be more proactive in setting aside personal time for processing, creating, and blogging. I do hope to keep you involved in all that I’m doing and learning.

Right now I’m in Bulgaria, where my team and I will continue to reside until the end of the month. Our goal is to scout out the needs of the Bulgarians and to find opportunities for future world racers to come and serve. We’re currently in our second city, and we plan to move on to our third one by the end of next week.

We’re staying in a church that has running water, beds, and nearby Internet–we feel like kings and queens compared to last month. But even so, I would give it all up to have another day with Gabby and Nelu (our host family from last month). I didn’t realize how much I loved them until we had to say goodbye. It’s funny…Nelu spoke nearly no English, yet I felt so incredibly close to him. Experiencing love as it translates across languages is a beautiful thing indeed.

A few weeks ago we had a World Race conference in Brasov, where all the world racers on the field gathered together to learn more about what it means to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth. Seth Barnes, the creator of the World Race, talked to us about identifying our dreams and practical ways to live them out. It’s incredibly inspiring to hear the dreams of my fellow world racers–one wants to be an art therapist, another wants to create websites for nonprofit organizations, one wants to be a voice for medical needs in developing countries, someone wants to build a safe house for people who’ve been abused….the list goes on and on and on. I can only imagine how transformed the world will be if we really do live out our kingdom dreams.

As for my kingdom dream, well, it’s developing. I know it has something to do with influence and creativity. Right now I’m more focused on seeking God wholeheartedly, and then I’m sure everything else will fall into place. It always does. I’m in the process of reading through 2 Chronicles, and one of the major themes is how the kings who were humble and fully committed to God prospered in all that they did. I want to be like that.

And now, something a little off topic, but important nonetheless…before I left for this journey I had a financial pledge that was supposed to cover the rest of my expenses, but that recently fell through. I am still in need of around $3000, and $1,200 of that must be in my account by November 1. If you are in any way able to donate I would be more than thrilled. The easiest way to do so is by clicking on the “support me” link on the upper left-hand side of this webpage. If you have already donated toward my cause and are reading this…thank you thank you thank you!

I hope you are enjoying October and all that it brings. If I don’t have another blog up within a week or so feel free to hunt me down. Ciao until then!
