Missions is a lifestyle

When you first hear the word missionary what comes to mind??? I used to automatically think of a poor middle aged lady in Africa holding an orphan. In reality, we are all called to be missionaries where ever we are. What ever journey God has for you it is undeniable that you shouldn’t keep the best thing in your life a secret (which is Jesus).

Mat 5:15
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

If you won the lottery would you keep it a secret or would you tell everyone (even strangers)? Why is it so hard for us to share our faith? Don’t we want everyone to have the same freedom that we have?

I’m learning that I have to “die” to my old self everyday. Let me repeat that…EVERYDAY. I have to die to my pride, my fear of rejection, my selfishness, my self-reliance…Why do I have to lay these things down everyday? I do it to be more like Jesus. I do it because I want more of Him and less of me. I do it because God deserves all of me and I can’t grow if I keep holding on to “me.”

Mat 16:25
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.

I’m not saying it’s easy to witness to strangers, but I’m trying. Instead of thinking our ministry as “evangelism” I think of it as making friends. My ministry this month is to love people and because I love them I want to share Jesus with them.

I challenge you to be intentional about investing in someone’s life everyday and tell them about Jesus…wow wouldn’t that be awesome to see hundreds and thousands of people coming to Christ because you planted a seed in someone’s life? Even if you don’t tell strangers why don’t you tell your loved ones?
