As my team and I are approaching month six of the Race (Which seems nuts!). I have been thinking of different quotes, scenarios, and things that happen on the World Race that wouldn’t happen at home. Here are 17 things that have happened thus far on the Race that more than likely wouldn’t happen in America.

1. When deciding what shirt to wear with a certain pair of pants, “hmmm…I will go upstairs to my dirty clothes pile, smell my Ohio shirt and if it doesn’t smell bad I will wear it again for the 5th time in a row.”

2. The bathroom floors in Asia are constantly wet.

3. Fitting 25 people into a Ta Ta seems more like a game rather than a safety issue.

4. When in monsoon season, rain jackets don’t really help things stay dry.

5. If you see a rat run across a restaurant floor it really isn’t that big of a deal.

6. When you actually crave McDonalds

7. You have tried every cake in the bakery and none of them taste as good as ‘Merica. #damnwippyicing

8. When you debate sleeping on a tiled floor instead of your sleeping pad because it is cooler.

9. Card games and Ellen’s heads up games are the go to.

10. When your teammates try to empathize with you…and fail. Casey: I am having spiritual warfare. I keep waking up at the same time in the middle of the night. Liz: Wow! Wake me up the next time it happens and I will pray with you. Except, if I am sleeping, don’t wake me up.” #lizlogic

11. When you get called the sweaty girl because you CAN’T STOP SWEATING!…#thailand

12. When you are sitting in an Indian church and a hen walks in, lays an egg, and the pastor walks over and puts the egg in his pocket….#WHAT!?

13. As you are walking down the road in Changloon, Malaysia and there is a fish stand surrounded by cats…then the cat straight up jacks one of the fish off the table.

14. Cold showers are becoming the norm and you actually don’t mind them

15. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches never get old!

16. “Dressing up” consist of putting on jeans or leggings, and a clean T-shirt.

17. Every night is a sleep over with your teammates

I hope that you all enjoyed this blog, giving you a glimpse of the day in the life of a World Racer thus far. I am about $700 away from being fully funded! The dead line for being fully funded is December 30th. If you feel lead by the Father to support my trip, you can do so by clicking the “Support me” tab. Love you all so much!

In It For Good With Him,

Hope
