I was so lucky last month to get to visit the
Ringroad Orphan Day School and Community Health Clinic. The place is supported in a lot of ways by my
home church-Preston Road Church of Christ. Preston Road sponsors Thomas, one of the founders of the Orphan School
and the current Director of the Health Clinic. All of the kids that attend the school are orphans and many of them are
supported by members PRCC. Even I have a
little girl who I support there. When I
found out I was close enough to make a visit and our leadership agreed, of
course I was excited.

Lyndsie accompanied me on the two day trip where we
were graciously hosted by Thomas and his family. We stayed at their house and ate meals with
them. We toured the school and clinic
and were able to play with the kids and even attend classes with them. We ate the meals of porridge, beans, and rice
with the kids ate and also was invited to eat ugali with the teachers of the
school.

This is a very special place situated in one of the
largest slums in Kenya. We heard the
story of how the school was started by 3 young men who just couldn’t watch
these kids go without food and education. Thomas, James, and Jared stepped out big time in faith one Sunday when
they invited about 60 kids to come to the church on Monday for their first day
of school. Every day since then the Lord
has provided the 3 men with 2 meals for each child. Today there are 380 kids at the school that
all have clothes, shoes, and food to eat and are no longer stealing the
equivalent of pennies to survive.
