We were invited to visit a neighboring village and teach some classes in a school on Tuesday and Wednesday. Each one on our team took a class and we rotated t
hrough the entire age group teaching different English topics. I taught numbers and animals and had a lot of fun. The kids were precious and the school had done a wonderful job planning this big event for the kids. They treated us like queens, too. We had the opportunity to speak to the entire school a number of times and do some activities with them. We did some songs that were very Vacation Bible School in nature. I was so worried that we were going to overstep the boundary by pushing Christianity on the English Camp.
wasn’t sure this was culturally appropriate, but went along with it because of course I want these kids to hear the gospel. We decided on a plan to present the gospel message Wednesday. So, our Thai Mom ended up presenting the message of Jesus and it seem to go well. No one stormed out or told us to be quiet. We finished the day out taking pictures with the teachers and students, exchanging email addresses, and getting Thai gifts. I basically fell in love with these kids in just two days.
English Camp. He is a teacher at another school close by and was explaining how a lot of the teachers were really excited to have Christians come. He said they like the Christians they’ve met before and some of them have started feeling like Buddhism is too empty. He also mentioned that there is a big Buddhist festival happening on Thursday and Friday of this week and normally the school would take all the kids and would spend time Tuesday and Wednesday preparing for the festival.
camp with a bunch of Christians and the whole school heard about Jesus. The teacher went on to tell Mom that she was welcome to bring another group to his school to talk about Jesus even if they didn’t do an English camp. What?!? Are you kidding me? This turned into a total God moment. While I was so worried about the content of our English classes and not offending people God was working it so that literally hundreds of students will be able to hear the message of Jesus out of the mouth of one Thai woman…..AND she got an invitation to do it again at another school.
