Encouragement, joy, and inspiration. Those are some words I would use to describe what I’ve felt in the last 3 weeks since arriving home from the World Race. Yes, I got overwhelmed choosing milk, but then I loved getting to add either cherry OR vanilla flavor to a fountain Coke Zero! I’m still catching up on a lot of other things I couldn’t do outside of America.

Most importantly, I am re-united with my people. My family and friends in Texas are what I missed most of everything that was left behind and the reunions have been sweet! I finally feel like I’m in a place that my heart knows as home, but it’s not a place, it’s people. Don’t get me wrong, I love the people on my team, my squad and so many of the amazing people we met around the world. It just feels good to be in a place where people already know you, understand you, and love you. I didn’t appreciate that fact until I was taken away from it and only recognized it when I got it back.

Here’s a few more light hearted things that I’ve loved about being home:

  • ·         Peanut M&M’s
  • ·         Hand soaps that smell delicious
  • ·         Beef jerky (Matt!) & Turkey jerky (Tara!)
  • ·         Beds, sheets, and fluffy pillows!
  • ·         Washers & Dryers
What’s Next? I really have no answer yet. I haven’t sat still long enough to hear God’s whisper. That has been a struggle. Catching up with people and things has re-introduced me into the fast paced world I used to love. The hardest thing for me to do at home is to get still and reflect. I want to be more intentional about my priorities now and learn to say no or simply miss out on some activities. I know that I’m distracted by busy life which is why life on the race was so sweet. It was simple and slow (except for travel days). I want to hold onto the simplicity and incorporate it into whatever is next.

I have been blessed with wise counsel. People are sharing their stories with me as well, and God is using it to comfort, direct, and encourage me. My parents and brother have been my rocks. They are completely supportive and easy going with whatever way the wind is blowing me that day. I’m really really fortunate to have these 3 here with me each day. Thanks Jesus for all of this.

Year end video coming soon. Love, Holly
