Preface: Internet is terrible, will post pictures when it isn’t.

Fun fact: my mom is one of my favorite people in the entire world. She has been my whole life. Even when I went through the nasty teenager years.

PVT (Parent Vision Trip) is a week during the Race where as Racers we are given permission to invite our parents to come serve alongside us. This trip falls in month 9 and so we were in Thailand!

We had the opportunity to do a lot of things with our parents. We prayer walked, we did some restorative projects, we went to some Buddhist temples to talk to monks or to just pray to Jesus around the temples, and some people went to the slums to play with kids.

At night, we did bar ministry and intercessory prayer.

The first night, mom and I went to do bar ministry. One of my favorite parts of this night was some guy was selling bracelets in the bar. He would hand-make them right there. She paid him for a bracelet and started talking to him. I don’t know if I would have thought to talk to the guy selling bracelets. One of my other favorite parts was when we left the one bar we were at, we stopped by another one on our walk back. Christian was with us at this point and we had been at this bar before.

We walked in and literally one lady was there. She was my mom’s age and had kids close in age to my brother and me. Mom just started talking to her about her life while she told Christian and I to change the music. When we walked out, my mom looked at me and said, “I’ve always known you were called to the younger generations, but this is who I’m called to. The old people.”

On the Race, you really do become the most true version of yourself that you have been up to this point.

So it was incredible to get to be around my mom and for her to see the change in me.

The last night we went to the bars, Carissa and I were playing pool with a couple of women working. Mom was worn out, and I went to talk to her, and she told me how proud she was of me and she said all of these changes in me that I had heard from my peers all year, but it meant something entirely different coming from my mom.

Our last full day together, we road elephants, went shopping and ate dinner together. I had the best time with my mom and I’m so grateful for the sacrifices she made to come and serve the Lord and His Kingdom along side of me.

PVT bonus: I got hugged by more dads the week of PVT than I have been able to hug my own in over 6 years. God showed me a lot of how He fulfills the missing father figure place in my heart. My dad is alive, but with his Alzheimer’s it’s hard to have him present. Just a sweet, unexpected bonus of PVT was getting to have present father figures and extra moms too! Praise the Lord for parents. They’re freaking great.

Prayer requests:
I still need to pay for my flight home. They average a little under $200. If you want to help with that, you can send money through paypal. My email is [email protected].

Scarlett, Sara, Alex and Caroline still are not quite fully funded. Pray that they get there and help them out.
