The second half of our month in Cambodia was spent at Eli International School, a Christian school specifically geared towards missionaries’ kids and children who are sponsored who live in nearby villages.

It was so great to be a part of a ministry where they serve the body and do outreach all in a regular day.

Some of our team spent their days in the classrooms answering questions for the older children or teaching preschool. Others spent their time outside painting and doing clean up around the school to make it look even better for the first week of school and the parents who were coming to visit soon.

On our last day, we had a fun day with the kids where we played games, some told Bible stories, and we sang a few songs. On Sundays half of us would go do a children’s outreach in the village and the other half would go to a village church. One would preach, one would share a testimony and two would help with the children there.

We stayed with a great family from the Philippines who run the school who had two boys ages 10 and 13. We got to spend time with the family a lot and it felt like home when we would have movie nights with the boys. There was even a night where we got to take the boys to see a movie in town and have dinner with them.

Their family loved us well and I hope we served and blessed them as much as they did us.

I learned a lot about myself in month 8, with losing my grandfather, learning to grieve, and learning to express my needs in the midst of grief, but the Lord is always faithful and never fails to show me how to help others even when I’m in the midst of trials. And I am so grateful for that.
