Hello friends! I’d like to take a few second to commemorate that fact that this is my first blog, ever, of all time…….. pretty special in my book. Anyway, here is an update on my life and what God has planned out for me within the next year and a half. How did I even get this blog? Here’s part of the story.
I am coming to the end of my senior year here at Anderson University and will be graduating in May with my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. I have been beyond blessed with a great education along with opportunities that I have snatched up at every chance I’ve gotten to work with God’s people through different missional organizations. My freshman year I took a trip over spring break to Washington, D.C. that really sparked my interest in giving all my free time outside of school to God. Since then I have spent all three summers working for different organizations like Center for Student Missions in Philadelphia, J.U.M.P. Ministries in the Bronx, NYC, and went back to Philadelphia this past summer to work with YouthWorks. I have taken two additional mission trips with my school to Berlin, Germany and London, England with God at the center of my time there. I have left a piece of my heart in each of these places and fallen in love with the people and memories I’ve made there.
These short term trips have provided numerous experiences with different cultures and settings but lacked a sense of long term community that I have been able to experience through serving with Young Life in Noblesville, IN. This has really been eye opening for me to understand what it means to do life with people, students and other leaders; sharing in the exciting times, the desperate times, and everything inbetween. Through these various short term trips and understanding true Spirit-filled community, God has been tugging at my heart to go deeper. I say all this as an update on the past three years of my life and to explain why I feel the pull to continue to seek God in new places I’ve never been physically and spiritually.
At this time in my life I am faced with the next huge decision of what to do after college. Another incredible opportunity has been placed in my lap that God has been slowly revealing to me. I was accepted this February to leave on and 11 month long mission trip through this crazy trip called The World Race this coming September. Through all these short term trips I have been on during the past few years God has really been calling me to trust Him fully more and for longer periods of time. This adventure is already allowing me to trust God with mind, body, and soul, completely. I can only imagine my trust will grow stronger and stronger as the days continue and I see God through so many different perspectives. I am beyond ready to be stretched further than I ever thought possible to become a new creation in Christ.
Thanks for making it all the way to the bottom 🙂 and there are sure to be more updates soon about fundraising, life, and Jesus
