I have been on two out of the country mission trips before and I fell in love. On these mission trips, I grew to discover that missions is what God was calling me to do.
In the Philippines, we went from school to school to tell the students about God’s love for them and salvation. While we were there(2 weeks) a couple thousand people became new Christians. Over the weekend we went to an orphanage and had a blast. We were able to just love on the kids and play around and have fun. It’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever been told. This trip sparked the fire in me for missions.
Last summer, I went to Haiti with my high school youth group. My first reaction when I found out about the trip was, “sign me up!” My second thought was, “how in the world are we going to get around 200 high school students out of the country?” haha. I can tell you this now, God works in crazy ways. While we were in Haiti, we did painting, tree planting, SVT(strategic village time), and “Backyard Bible clubs.” It was one of the best weeks of my life!
The World Race Gap Year is a 9 month mission trip to, in our case, 5 different countries. Though the countries are subject to change, they are Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ethiopia, Nepal, and The Philippines. During this mission trip, me and my squad mates will be doing anything from construction, providing food, working with orphans, ministering to human trafficking victims, preaching the gospel, and so much more! This trip will definitely not be a vacation. We will be stepping out of our comfort zones. Our homes for the 9 months are tents and sleeping bags. I don’t say this to make y’all feel bad for us or to get praises for what we are doing, I am saying this so you know that when you donate, first of all, it won’t be a gift to me, it will be a gift to God that He will allow me to use for Him. It won’t go to fancy resorts, spa days, and fun activities either. Your donations will go to flights, food(for me and others), and more to further the kingdom. Now while I’m not the best writer, I’ll do my best to blog as much as I can and I’m going to give it a shot with Vlogging(video blogging on youtube) so you can see what I’m doing and to see how you are helping. God calls us all to either go or give. I have answered the called to go, will you answer your call?
I am completely blown away at how God is already working, I was accepted to the trip May 17th and as of today, May 20th, I have $1,280! WOW!
That means I am $3,720 away from my first deadline of $5,000 due June 17th. Please join me in praying that the funds will come in and that God will continue to move mountains. If you feel God calling you to donate, you can donate here on my blog, or you can donate to my “personal” funds on my PayPal paypal.me/hollyrenaud. The personal funds will go directly to the cost of traveling to training camp, my gear, and personal spending money.
Please subscribe to my blog so you can get updates when I post a blog or blog! Also, please share my blog so more people can read! 🙂
I would just like to say thank you so much to those who have supported me through prayer and through the gracious donations.
