Cambodia. I love Cambodia. I never could have imagined this to be the case, but here I am, loving the country.
This month we stayed at a YWAM base in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The stench of occasional sewage and the constant smog in my lungs was like a breath of fresh air to this city girl. I stayed on the fourth floor of the base overlooking the rooftops of the city (pictures to come), and each morning I could not have been happier for the view. Granted, coming from the desert in a concrete compound in Haiti anything sounds nice, but I realized that I love the city. I had forgotten just how much. I love the sound of people laughing and loud music. I love the bustle of people getting to the places they need to go. I love the constant change and movement. The city, in a lot of ways, makes me feel like I’m at home. I expected Asia to cause the most culture shock, when in fact it is the most comforting because I feel home here.
I spent the month doing ministry with Ashli Hanna and David (Matt) Williams from team Indelible. I was blessed. These two are absolutely unbelievable lovers of Christ and great friends to have around. I am truly thankful for their partnership in the Gospel.
We created four short films describing four of the ministries of New Life Fellowship, the church we were working with. These ministries were all phenomenal and this skeptic was so in awe of the work they are doing and the way in which they are accomplishing the things God has set them out to do. I hope to post these videos soon, but check Ashli Hanna’s page, she may have posted them. You will want to know and see the things I have heard and seen. God heals, saves, and cares for the people of Cambodia through New Life. I was truly blessed to meet and be given the privilege of representing the ministries and their founders and volunteers. God is doing a great work in Cambodia!
