We made it to Talanga! Also known as the Honduran Wild, Wild, West…
We arrived at Daryl and Sweet Darleen’s ranch Thursday afternoon as a squad and got settled in. There are only enough beds for the two teams working with their ministry, and the rest of the squad had set up their tents in the back and put up the hammocks on the front and back porch. They call it the hammock hotel.
The three ministries our squad is working with this month is: Aaron’s Mission Outreach, Heart of Christ, and a children’s home with 47 kids run by a couple from the US.
My team, Team Awakening, and another, The Joy Bombs, will be working with Aaron’s Mission Outreach together this month. Our days will go from 7:00 am til whenever we finish everyday with 4 church services at night throughout the week. Our work involves construction, working in their health clinic, tutoring in math and English, feeding children up the mountain on Thursdays, and various other ministry projects as they come up.
Honduras is a beautiful country with a lot of hurting areas, especially when it comes to the crime including murder, disputes, sexual abuse, incest, and rape.
Please be praying for our entire squad this month as we continue to dig in to our ministries and bring light to the hopeless. Please be praying also for this country as a whole. God is doing amazing work here and I hope that collectively we can continue to further his kingdom work.
We don’t have wifi out in the wild, wild, west of Talanga but when we make it to the capital two Saturdays of this month I hope to be able to update you further.
