I’ve been struggling lately with issues of “love”..and what that four letter word really means. Heartbreak isn’t easy, whether it’s the loss of life, the loss of a relationship, or the loss of a friendship.
When I think of that 4 letter’d “L” word, honestly it can makes me angry or bitter, but then I remember what love really is…the love that God has for us. His love is the only love that truly matters in this moment…
When people let you down (as they often do), God will pick you up.
It’s true… we live in a fallen world of sin, and people are selfish in their ways. I’m not separated from this either, I too have had my moments. I’m not perfect.
At times when you’re broken or hurting, remember this:
God’s love is constant.
Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
He will not leave you.
He will not forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Always remember the great power behind you.
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
God is Love.
1 John 4:16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
We love because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.
His love never fails, never gives up, never runs out.
Lamentations 3:22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
My hope is that during times of brokeness, hurting, or that empty feeling that comes with heartache…that you remember these truths. God’s love is the strongest love that there is. He loves you, and he is fighting for you. Find comfort and strength in him.
