As far back as I can remember I've had a heart for serving. I think I've always felt for the ones who are forgotten or mistreated. I volunteered at nursing homes when I was younger,Tthen when I went to college my passion for volunteering exploded. I started working with an organization called Young At Heart that works with one of the local nursing homes. I also began to volunteer with Special Olympics and have continued to volunteer for events with them. Then in my junior year, I was called to go on a 2 week mission trip with my church to Thailand to work with the House of Grace. The House of Grace rescues girls that are "at risk" for being sold into the sex trade. I didn't really know much about the sex trade before the trip, so it was definitely an eye opener. I fell in love with these little girls who had come from such bad situations and had such a strong faith in God. For that point on, I realized that I had to do more. It was a life changing experience and I have become very passionate about informing people at home about what is taking place not only overseas, but also in our own country. Getting ready to graduate college, I just happened to be looking through the Adventures in Missions website when I came across the World Race page and saw that there was a Human Trafficking Route. I prayed about it and decided that I would apply for the trip and if it was God's will for me to go on the trip, then I would get accepted. My heart almost lept out of my chest when I received the call to set up the interview and finally I got accepted on the 2011 Fall Trafficking Route. I am beyond excited to see what God is going to do in my life on this trip and to see how he is going to use me for his kingdom!
