This month we are in Dobromirka, Bulgaria. You haven’t heard of it? Yeah, me either.
It is a real small town with one corner store and a lot of rolling hills and wide-open spaces.
We are paired with another World Race team and we are partnering with the organization, Mission Possible.
We are staying at a facility that holds summer camps and we had the privilege of helping at a family camp last week.
We cleaned, washed dishes, cooked, and chopped a lot of vegetables.
The Bulgarian women we worked with in the kitchen are talented and kind. Creative and welcoming. They also laugh a lot…but mostly just at us.
They always laughed at me when I started crying from chopping so many onions. My apologies for weeping in the corner while sweet Maria had eyes of steel.
The taught me new recipes, cooking strategies, and even a little etiquette. They also taught me how to properly arrange cheese and how it’s all about the plate presentation.
I’ve loved helping them and wearing my flower power apron, but I think I loved learning from them more.
They’ve prepared me for wifey duties AND to be a local lunch lady. But I think I’m just going to start with helping at my family’s thanksgiving…does that work, Mom & Dad?
