Let’s just say, this past month has been a whirlwind. Let me just see if I can collect my thoughts enough to give an acceptable update.
First of all…I’m in THAILAND! What?! I’ve been here for 3 weeks…and yes, I had to check my calendar to see exactly how much time has passed, as I truly have no sense of time anymore.
In that time, we have had long travel days, training camp, launch training, a few days off, and 2 days of ministry. We have about a week left in Thailand, then we’re on to Cambodia.
Typically, World Race squads have their training in Georgia about 2 months before heading out to their first country. One of the ways the Fusion route (my route) is different is we have training IN our first country, since we have squadmates coming from throughout the world, not just the US.
It’s never been explicitly explained this way, but training camp is much like fight club. You don’t talk about it. When I was preparing for I was hoping that just one racer would slip up before my race, so I could just get a glimpse of what I was jumping into, but of course, that didn’t happen. Honestly, it’s hard to put into words everything that happened into words, even though it was only 5 days.
I learned to let go, move on, love, give and accept grace, that I am enough. I was reminded that I am a child of God and that He called me here for HIS purpose.
It was incredible, uncomfortable, and it stretched me in ways I had no idea were possible.
Here’s a peak at what the last three weeks have looked like:
- 45 hours of travel between Denver and Chiang Mai, Thailand
- 3 flights, 2 layovers, 1 bus ride
- Met 25 strangers in an airport
- 3 weeks later, I feel as though I’ve known them for years
- Feeling spoiled, because our first living quarters had beds, hot water showers and western toilets
- 5 days camping at a ranch outside of town
- Hiking with all of our gear

- Coaches, mentor, leaders pouring into us with so much wisdom, love, and passion
- Songthaew and tuk tuk rides

- Limited wifi connection, therefore limited contact with family and friends back home
- A few rest days
- Hiking/rock climbing up and down a waterfall
- Riding elephants

- Team selections!

Guys, I’m excited. I’m so so excited to see what this next year holds, but continue to pray that God keeps my heart planted where my feet are. I’ll focus on Cambodia in February, but for today and the rest of January, my feet are in Thailand, and there my heart will be also.
