This month we are in Trujillo, Peru! A broken yet beautiful city.

Our neighborhood is one of the more poorer neighborhoods of the city.

Our first week in Trujillo, we put on a VBS for the neighborhood kids. Each day we had between 70 to 90 kids.

The Savage Ministries Compound is a safe refuge place for these kids, many of whom have bad home lives and rough situations with their families.

More than likely, these kids’ fathers and brothers (if present) are involved with drugs or gangs. But you would never know it from looking at these kids, they are so beautiful inside and out.

Because this month is all squad month (meaning I live with 56 other amazing World Racers!), each team was responsible for one part of the VBS. My team did crafts!

We also teach English classes to eager audiences every weekday.

One of my favorite parts about doing the VBS and English classes is seeing that for a few hours each day the neighborhood kids are taken care of, receiving attention, and being treated like the sons and daughters of God that they are. It has been a privilege getting to know them and being able to spend time with them.

Our main ministry has been to the beautiful children of the broken neighborhood we live in.

We are praying that the light of God would shine so bright here and that the chains on these people would begin to break. We are praying for families to be restored and kids to know the love of Christ.
