Hey guys! Sorry I haven´t been able to post much these last few weeks. I will hopefully be writing about Mapiri, Bolivia soon but for now I want to wrap up our time in Trujillo, Peru.

This is a journal entry from February 28th:

Leaving our neighborhood of Trujillo, Peru, it feels like we are leaving it a brighter place. In a spiritual sense, it’s not as heavy as it was when we first came. I think that our prayers have definitely changed some things here. I’m not sure if we’ll know the full impact we had, but I do know we made some difference. People came to know Christ, kids felt loved, and our hearts were changed too.

Joel and Maria, the missionaries here, served and loved us so well. They made the Savage Ministries Compound feel like home. The Pastora prayed bold prayers over us. Our squad leaders opened up about their lives and called us higher as well.

This month I came to understand that it is a cost to leave my family for a year of travel and serving, and that sometimes God does call us to leave behind those we love. But I also learned that he doesn’t just leave us there, in our pity, without family. Instead, he blesses our sacrifices and gives us more than we could have ever dreamed of. It´s like Ephesians 3:20 that says “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or imagine…”

I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d be living in a desert of Peru for a month, and I definitely never expected to gain a family of more than 60 people, but that is exactly what God has done. As I was playing soccer on the beach with Peruvian youth the other night, I couldn’t help but feel so blessed. I had somehow gained brothers and sisters and friends in the three short weeks we were here and we were laughing and playing soccer like we had known each other our whole lives.

That is what God can do and I am amazed by it.

If you want to know more about the ministry we were working with this month, please check out their website.

They run a Christian preschool and are currently looking for people to sponsor children.
