A question that I get a lot when talking to people about my trip is “what are your expectations for the World Race?”
Well after much thought my answer to this questions is not the most conventional.
My answer is this, I don’t want to expect anything specific.
If you are confused then let me explain. I have never been great at making split second decisions. Should I get the neon green nikes or the blue ones? . . . 3 hours later. haha I like to plan things out and know what is going to happen.
Something that I have been learning lately is that our plans and expectations can limit our view of what God is going to do with our lives.
Before I knew that I was going to go on the world race, I was planning on the more traditional path of college. However when I stepped back and focused more on what God’s plan for me was, and less on what I thought I was going to do, he blew my mind by showing me this extraordinary trip. Fast forward a few months and here I am today.
I am not planning on or expecting anything specific for my trip.
No Expectations of –
– What living in a different country will be like
– How God will change me
– How I will serve others
– What I will enjoy the most about the trip
I want to give God the room to work through me and to show me how he desires for me to grow. That being said there are still things that I hope will come from my trip.
– I hope to spread the love of Jesus to people in need of it
– I hope to become more like Jesus by following his example
– I hope to live in an authentic community of people I love
– I hope to see God do things that I could never have imagined
I also wanted to say that I am jazzed by the continual support you all are showing me in reaching my financial goal.
