This is Kenya:
Where church services last for at least 3 hrs…
Where worshipping the Lord means having a dance party…
Where the roads
are all dirt and bumpy…
Where part of Lake Victoria resides…
Where monkeys steal your vegetables…
Where it’s dangerous to go out at night because the hippos
are out…
Where bald eagles fly high…
Where Ugali is served…
Where “Oh Yes” is said in every sentence…
Where women carry buckets of water on their heads and babies
strapped to their back…
Where HIV is rampant…
Where men run everywhere they go…
Where a church merely consists of a building and some
chairs…
Where electricity is rare…
Where Obama’s presidency was made into a national holiday…
Where the sun rises at 6:30 am and sets at 6:30 pm…
Where mosquito nets cover the beds…
Where walking is the main mode of transportation…
Where things start at least 1 hour later than
planned…African time
Where “mzungu” and “How are you?” are constantly yelled at
us…
Where I get excited when I see other white people (mzungus)…
Where we caught and killed our own turkey for Christmas
dinner…
Where the people are naturally beautiful…
Where miracles happen…
Where generosity is huge…
Where God is teaching me dependence on Him.
