I went down to Georgia to attend training camp for my squad. I had to get here early to receive leadership training before they got here.
It’s been a really cool experience to see “behind the curtain” and learn just how much work and coordination goes into pulling off a training camp like this. It requires schedules, contingency plans, drivers, and someone to coordinate it all.
MY HEART
One of my goals as a team lead this year is to give everything away I have gained in insight, wisdom, and healing to the squad.
Matthew 10:8
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
In order to give what I have away though requires vulnerability. There has not been a single day of training camp where I have not cried. The tears are not bad though. The Lord has been healing my heart. Many people have prayed over me and offered encouraging words that have bolstered my spirit and given me something to contemplate.
God is making me look more like Him and I’m walking in that precious gift.
I love each and every person on this squad so much and I will do everything I am able to love them well. Whether it’s sharing a tent, driving them to urgent care, turning a blind eye when they order pizza to the campground (lol), being a listening ear, loving them through tough things, giving them growth opportunities, or praying with them, then that’s what I’ll do.
I’ve already seen healing start at training camp (not just me, in the squad too). God is breaking chains and doing a new work within their hearts. I’ve seen practical strangers become close friends within days. God is knitting us together for His purpose and plan. The harvest is plentiful and we are going out. I can’t wait!
PRAYER REQUESTS
John 17:12b
“During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me. I guarded them so that not one was lost..”
Pray that I would continue to love, pursue, and be intentional with my squad and that not one would be lost along the way (in any sense of the word).
John 17:23
“I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”
Intercede for my squad. Pray for unity, protection, life, clarity, freedom, and peace in Jesus name.
RECAP
Before coming to training camp, when I prayed for this squad I was filled with the joy of the Lord. I knew I was supposed to be here. And now that I’m here I know why.
I started feeling bummed that I’ll only get to be with them for three months, but what an amazing three months it will be with whichever team within the squad I get assigned to.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
As I learned from my cousin Jeremy, instead of feeling bummed about not getting the time we want with people, we instead need to cherish the time we do get to spend with them whether it’s three hours, three days, three months, or three years.
God is good.
