As I embarked on the World Race just over a year ago, I already had a plan for when I returned home: grad school.

As I returned home at the end of July this year, after a year of my eyes being opened and my heart being broken for a world in desperate need of Jesus, my original plan seemed null and void. The only plan that seemed to make sense was this: to rest.

But as I began to rest, I realized that though Jesus called me to a season of rest, there still remained an insatiable stirring in my spirit-the stirring that is in ALL of us-for more.
More of God, more of His Kingdom.

                              More.
So here are some Highly Effective Habits for you racers returning home in January, birthed of my personal experience returning home and attending Kingdom Dream’s Searchlight conference (which I highly recommend to ALL of you, no matter where you are coming off the race.
1. Take time to rest. If you want to sleep for a week, do it. If you want to watch Grey’s Anatomy or the office  for a week, do it. Do what you need to do to rest for a period of time (I gave myself a couple weeks of doing pretty much nothing).

2. Share your stories. You need to share them, people need to hear them. Spend some time writing them out to begin processing and to be a more effective story teller when God blesses you with an opportunity to bless someone with your stories.

3. Stay connected with the people who know you best (keep in touch with the people who you know best and who know you best on the squad-get someone to hold you accountable for the things you need to be held accountable for!).

4. Spend quality time with family and friends catching up (don’t just share your stories, hear their stories, too).

5. Make God your #1 priority. You just might find that you need Him more now than ever.

6. Attend Project Searchlight put on by Kingdom Dreams! They are an incredible resource ready and willing to serve you and to help you figure out the direction God is calling you in this next season of life. They are an amazing resource for anyone and everyone from the moment you first discover the passion of your life through the actual launching of that passion. Because the reality is, you want more. More of God, more of His Kingdom, more of the real you to shine into the darkest places. Check them out: Call them. Email them. Don’t miss this opportunity

7. Continue being the world changer that you are.
