It’s hard to believe I have been on the race for four months and our time in Asia has come to a close. In some ways it feels as though we have just begun. In other ways, it feels like I have been gone significantly longer than four months.

As I’ve tried to process what God has been doing in me and through me these past four months, I have found myself struggling to put it into words-to make tangible for you the amazing ways that God is moving across the nations. So I’ve decided for each country to share one thing God has taught me and one person/group of people who we have blessed and have been blessed by, including what you can continue to be praying for them. This will be a four part blog, one blog for each country. This is part two of this four part blog.

None of these blessings could have happened without each one of my supporters. Those who have been blessed have not been blessed just by team Agape Life Song, but by each one of you. Thank you so much for allowing these ministries to happen, these blessings to be bestowed.

Month Two: Cambodia

What God Has Taught Me: God is moving in all things

So often in my life it can feel as though life is stagnant. It can feel as though my character is staying the same. It can seem that despite our efforts, we are not having a meaningful effect on those we try to minster to. I know this is something I struggled with during my Teach For America experience, wondering if all of my efforts were making an impact-wondering if all of my efforts made a difference or were enough.

It was towards the end of this month, a month in which we found ourselves spreading ourselves thin, serving in many different ministries, that God revealed to me that He is moving in EVERYTHING. We may only have taught a little bit of English, may only have gotten a little bit done through our administrative work, may only have gotten to spend a little bit of time with our beloved street children, but in ALL of this, God was moving. God is greater than our human minds can comprehend. God does not work within our time restraints. In what we see as a “little bit” God can have a huge, everlasting impact on peoples’ lives.

People Blessings: street children

I never imagined it was possible to have such deep communication, express such deep love for people with whom you do not share the same language. We spent our evenings with about 8 boys between the ages of six and fifteen. Though we did not speak the same language, we immediately connected with these boys on a deep level. Just as God does not work within the time constraints that we have in this world, He also works outside of languages. Throughout the month our boys opened up to us more each day, more willing to receive our love, more excited each night that we arrived. Boys that spent their days on the streets alone, begging for money, subject to prostitution from an unconscionably young age, were able to receive love like they may never have received before.

You can be praying that more people come who are able to share the love of God with them. You can be praying protection over them each day. You can be praying that their families will be redeemed and that they will be able to provide the care and love that each one of these boys need.
