Hi my name is Heidi and I am an undercover secret agent this month. We look for different ministries in Laos that we can work with for a couple days then give this ministry over to AIM (the World Race team) and they look into having this ministry as contacts that can be potentially worked with in the coming years to other squads. But we have to look for other organizations to work with by not looking up the following words: ministry, Bible, God, Jesus, prayer etc. So it’s a lot harder then it looks. We can’t say these words because Laos is a communist country. This month is called Unsung Heroes (UH). This means we are on our own we don’t have hosts to work with we find our own work as a team.
At the end of last month we had training for Laos in Thailand for 2 days as we had our end of the month debrief. We got told that this month we were going to have a UH leader for the month and our team leader was going to be stepping back in some areas for the month. This is to allow our UH leader to step up to help motivate the team and encourage the team as we find organizations to work with. Well our team came to the consensus that I was going to be the UH leader for the month. I was a little thrown back but also really excited at the same time. My first thoughts were “Yes! I can’t believe I am picked!” my second thoughts were “Wait… I am what?”
I never saw myself as a leader. I guess I thought leaders had the personality type of being extraverted, outgoing, high energy, who is very knowledgeable and wise in what they are the leader of. I saw myself as the opposite of all those things. But I was chosen as the UH leader for the month and now I have to figure out what that even means…
God has been gracious to me as I am slowly learning how to be a leader. I am re- learning what a leader is and how to view them in a different set of eyes. I haven’t figured it out yet as it’s only been 4 days but I will let you know at the end of the month what I had been taught! Please keep my in your prayers as I am learning to grow in how to be a leader and what that even looks like.
