If God told you to pray for someone and they would be healed, would you do it? If God never healed someone through you before, would you do it? Or would you let fear take over? I am sure if God has used you before to heal someone you would have an easier time believing that that person will be healed when you pray for them because you have seen it done before. But if God never used you before to heal someone and He told you something like that I am sure it would be a lot harder to obey Him, right? I know it was harder for me.
For a couple years I have been asking God for the gift of healings. It says in Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”. So that’s what I did I started asking. I wanted to see people being healed. I have never really witnessed anything where I saw someone being healed before. I wanted to be able to go up on the streets and pray for those whom I saw were hurt and see Jesus heal them completely! So I would take risks and try. I had never gone up to a stranger but I tried praying for healing for my dad’s knee after surgery for pain, for his knee to be completely healed and for it to not hurt after doing simple activities like baseball or running. I tried praying for squad mates to see healing in knees. But every time I tried to pray over someone God never healed that person and I couldn’t understand why. I thought I believed and trusted that God would heal the person. I wasn’t looking at my own strength for that person to be healed; I knew God was the only person who could do it. So what was I doing wrong?
As I entered China the place where we are staying we have a library of books to read. I looked through the bookshelf to see which one I could start reading. I found a lot I was interested in but couldn’t pick one. So I left it for a bit. I went back a couple hours later and found a book I haven’t seen yet. It was called Smith Wigglesworth on Healing. I knew I had to read this book, so I started reading it. If you ever have time to read this book I highly recommend it. This man is crazy for the Lord he had a concern for the salvation of others and so he would devote himself to winning over as many people to Christ on an individual basis because he couldn’t express himself enough to preach. When he got married his wife had the gifting in preaching and evangelism. They both had a passion for the poor and needy so they opened up a mission. At the age of 48 he got baptized in the Holy Spirit and he could then preach! Him and his wife then have an evangelistic and healing ministry that reached thousands. He would become violent with the devil and when someone would be hurting he would punch where he or she was hurting and this person would be completely healed! They wouldn’t even be hurt from the punch. He eventually stopped punching people but that is how he started off. It wasn’t that he was punching the person but punching the devil out! It’s crazy but he was a very wise man and I began to learn more about healings.
I am by far no expert on healings as I am learning and growing in that area. But some things I have learnt this far is to be forceful with the devil or evil spirits when praying over someone take authority because the Holy Spirit is in you! 1 John 4:4- “ You dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world”. Jesus is greater then the devil so if you are speaking with authority the devil will have nothing else to do but to escape.
You then need to understand that God is greater then you! John 3:30- “He must become greater; I must become less”.
After that you need to make sure you have faith and believe that whom you pray for will be healed! James 5:15- “ And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven”. If you dare trust God, He will never fail.
This past week a couple people and myself went to a near by park. We ended up playing Frisbee with some very young children. I had a moment to go sit down and so I sat beside an older adult, she was a 74-year-old Tibetan woman. We talked as best as we could to each other as she knew no English and I knew no Tibetan. We sat there for about 1 hour before she looked at me and touched her shoulder and said “Ouch”, she touched her armpit and said “Ouch”, and she touched her back and ankle and said “Ouch” to every spot. At first I didn’t know what to do because we are in a closed country and I didn’t really know if it was appropriate for me to pray for her in public. But she kept touching the spots on her body that was sore. So I couldn’t resist. I got down on my knees picked up her ankle and started massaging it. As I was massaging I started praying for healing in Jesus name. I told her to walk and move her ankle. She stood up and did as I said. She looked at me in amazement! Her eyes got real big and she started walking around and stomping her foot! She gave me a thumbs up and couldn’t stop smiling. That’s when she pointed to her shoulder next. So I massaged and prayed for it. She started moving her arm above her head and swinging it back and forth she couldn’t stop moving it because it didn’t have any more pain in it! God healed her completely from all her pain! I was blown away and couldn’t stop thanking God! This lady couldn’t stop moving her limbs, as she was amazed she was healed and pain free! At this time I started getting an audience. About 6 people surrounded us and people started pointing to places on their bodies that were hurting! So I went up to an older man who had shooting pains from his neck down to is hand. I started massaging his hand and praying! With in 10 seconds he was completely healed! He so shocked started smiling and giving me thumbs up. Haha I couldn’t stop laughing at how awesome God was. A man brought up his wife who was on crutches and insisted her to be prayed for but she didn’t want to so I stopped. The two people that were healed were talking to the people around us telling them about what just happened. People were amazed and couldn’t stop smiling. God is super cool!
I never thought that today would have been the day I would have seen two people being healed in front of my eyes but I especially never would have thought God was going to use me to do it. If you dare trust God, He will never fail!
