This month our team is doing an Unsung Hero (UH) month. A UH month is when you and your team are not put with a ministry. You are on your own in the country you are put in (which happens to be Malaysia this month). This month is specifically a God lead month as you are asking the Lord where in Malaysia you are called to go! Yes, anywhere in Malaysia! Right now we are in Kuala Lumpur and will be here for 1 more week for sure before we head to another city in Malaysia (unsure of where God is calling us next at this moment). Your task is to go out and try to find ministries that you can work with, support them, love them and encourage them in any way possible. We then ask them to see if they want to partner with AIM in the future! Truthfully, it’s always my favourite month! (I am lucky enough to have this as my second month doing this).

Our teams also changed this month again. As this month is called “ministry month” so the guys moved to Indonesia while us girls stay in Malaysia. So I am on my first ALL girls team! Our team name happened to become “Team Barbie” for the month! Haha We thought it was then appropriate to all buy Barbie shirts to go with our name… I mean that’s what would make the most sense right? Although our name may sound just plan silly we made sure we made a vision for the month based on our name.

It is as follows:

B= Brining Heaven to earth by:

A= Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in our daily encounters,

R= Relentlessly pursuing opportunities to build lasting connections,

B= Boldly embracing new areas of growth,

I= Intentionally loving others well and

E= Existing to bring the light of Christ into dark places.

When we made this vision we were serious about what we wanted this month to look like! Sure enough as we allowed the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us we have been building lasting connections!

One of the ministries we connected with is called Hope City Church. A newlywed couple runs it from the UK who has a team of 6. They heard God call them to move to Malaysia to start up this church… so they did. They are just starting to paint the inside of there church and are doing Sunday evening services at there home until there church is ready to open. They not only run a church but Emma helps out with the homeless program that is run by another church in the area. Our team got the privileged to go there today and see how the program ran.

We worshipped together then got to go in small groups together to talk about what the mini service was about. We talked about what they thought about Jesus, who he is, and what they think about the miracles he has preformed in the Bible. Some were in love with Jesus, some couldn’t comprehend how someone could be so amazing but there still be bad things in the world, and some had so much confusion about who He was. We had the opportunity to sit and just listen to what they had to say. But one of the guys that touched me the most was a man named Daniel. He had so many questions and wanted so hard to believe that Jesus was real but couldn’t believe it because of all the hurt he has gone through in the past. He was adopted and doesn’t know his parents. He is without a home and doesn’t know how Jesus could love him so much but all these bad things were happening to him. As I was listening to his story my heart was breaking as I felt like I could feel the pain he was feeling. As tears rolled down his face he felt ashamed for crying as we was a guy and thought he had to be stronger then what he was in this specific moment. He was confused on who to worship as this world has so many religions so how does he know if this Jesus we talked about was the right one to worship? Our team got up and started praying over him. We hoped for him, loved on him and I could feel the presence of God in that place. This beautiful moment was by far the most impactful moment on the race for me so far! This man was so beautiful he wanted to believe so much but he just had a lot of questions that he couldn’t find answers for. God was so close to him in that moment and it was like God broke my heart for what was breaking His. My heart broke for all the homeless not just Daniels today. As much as I pray we were able to impact them when we were there today I think they impacted me also!

There are over 1,300 homeless in just the area of Kuala Lumpur. There are beggars everywhere as they can’t get a job or have enough money to get a place to stay for the night. They will sleep on the streets and in the parks every night as people pass them by daily. This is there way of life.

Lord break my heart for what breaks yours! I want to be sensitive to those whom you love so much but may not be seen by the world. These people need you just as much as any of us! Allow us to be compassionate to those who are lost and not be another person who will just pass them by on the street but will stop and love on them as you do!

Break my heart Lord for what breaks yours.

With much love,

Heidi
