Well month 2 is already come and gone! Seriously though where is the time going it’s flying past and it’s so hard to track everything I have been doing haha. Nepal has come to an end and Thailand is coming to a beginning. Our flight is Sunday evening (tomorrow) at 11pm. We will arrive in Thailand on Monday morning at 4am. We have done so many things this month that I think every month I am going to be saying the same thing over again and that’s how do I wrap up this month in a blog… I think the answer is I can’t. I wish I were able to share all the beauty of this city, the mountains, this ministry, the people we encountered in the slums, Hindu temples, bar ministries etc. But I simply can’t. So I will tell you what we have done this month and then share something that has deeply touched me the most on this amazing journey!

This past month we have experienced a bunch of different types of ministry. We painted the ministry building. Played soccer (or football as they call it :)) with the slum children, did a bible study with some amazing ladies. Made candles as the ministry teaches women how to make candles so they can sell them for profit, they also teach English, and Nepali as well at this ministry site. Then on the 30th we hiked up a mountain (aka “hill”) that was 22 km long, which took approximately 6 hours to walk. We had a sleepover on the hill that we were suppose to see Mt. Everest from in the morning but it was to foggy to see anything… but as we left we saw some mountains pop up over the clouds! God is so cool like that haha.

The most touching thing to me so far was when we went and did bar ministry. We walked into this bar that was about 8ft by 8ft then in the back was two rooms were guys would buy girls and go. Our group split into 2 and each group went into a back room. My group had two girls come back we sat down to talk to them to get to know them better and hear there stories as to why they were there. The look in there eyes was filled with anxiety and depression but they tried to hide that behind their smiles. You could see and hear their pain as they spoke. The younger girl went first to tell us her story… She grew up in a Hindu family. Her mom knew God and through that she knew God. She was trying to get to know God and was given a bible but once her dad found this bible he ripped it up and threw it away. She stopped searching God at this point. Her family needed more money and so she had to get a job to help bring in an income… so she started working at this bar. She works there from 9am to 11pm each day. The guys who she works for make her drink and smoke! She started questioning us on God. One thing she said that broke my heart was, “If God really loved me why would He let me work in a place like this?” We saw her pain and felt her hurt. She was crying for help and wasn’t feeling like she was getting it… This young girl has seen and felt so much pain in her life that I am sure no other lady has ever felt at the age she is at. This beautiful girl sitting in front of us was only 15 years old. She has been at this bar for 2 months working. So we prayed over her that God would provide for her so she is able to leave. Immediately after praying she had the biggest smile on her face she started laughing. She was so happy and filled with joy she gave me the biggest hug before I left that filled my heart.

After the 15 year old spoke the older girl started sharing her story. Her story was similar as her mom also knew God but she never pursued Him. She got married and has a baby. She is working at the bar to make money for her family as well. One thing she is broken about is she is praying her daughter that she doesn’t ever have to have the job that she has. She never told us much about herself as her main concern was about her child. She cared more about us praying over her daughter then about her… I mean that’s what moms do right they want the very best for there children. But did I mention that this mother was only 18 years old… and she has been married for 3-4 years already. We prayed for this young girl as well and for her daughter, tears were rolling down her eyes as we prayed over her. She lit up in the face when we finished praying, she was filled with joy just like her friend. We left these beautiful girls with hope and God revealed His love, joy and peace over them. They experienced God for the first time! PRAISE THE LORD! 😀

God moves in some pretty cool situations. His timing is always perfect. His timing is always the right time. He will never make you go through something that He knows you are unable to take. He will only give you what you can handle. I couldn’t answer the girls question as to why she was where she was. But I will let God handle that question for her as she did just feel Him move that day. If you are going through a struggle cry out to God talk to Him allow Him to move in your heart. He knows your struggling. Allow Him to help, He wants to help. A lot of the time we don’t know why we are going through the things we are but God does and will give you an answer if you pursue Him and it’s the right time.

Be blessed today,

Heidi 🙂
